The Promoter - Princeton Hsu (1900--1999)

Hsu was born in 1900 in Guangzhou. Hsu's father was a scholar in the Qing Dynasty and studied in Japan. With the teaching of his father, Hsu had laid down his solid academic foundation in Chinese language. Hsu's kind character of was shaped by his mother. Hsu went to Shanghai alone at the age of 14 and soon he entered the Hujiang University. He had received Christ and baptized in the campus of Hujiang University in the age of 19.

In 1919, The May-Fourth Movement blew the whole China promoting the western academic thoughts. Hsu digested the western thoughts in education and wrote his first book "New Theories in Education". This book was published by in Shanghai with great popularity. During the Sino-Japanese War from 1937-1945, Hsu was elected by Hujiang University as the General Secretary of the Student Association in Shanghai. In the last year of his university, Hsu was hired as the Editorial Department Officer of CBP. After his graduation, Hsu succeeded Zhang Yijing's post as the Chief Editor of "The True Light Magazine ". Afterwards, Hsu was subsequently promoted as Executive directior in 1970. In his life of serving the Lord, Hsu experienced the turmoil of Warlords' partition, the Sino-Japanese War from 1937-1945 and World War II. During wartime, Hsu had devoted his efforts in mobilizing Christians to establish the first Christian literature society in China, in order to plant the Christian faith within the Chinese culture. Hsu had also researched in Chinese social anthropology. Hsu was taken by the Lord in 1999. Hsu remained over 100 translated and written works, including the series in nation history such as "An Investigation- The Chinese discovered America (Book I & II) ", and "The Christian Faith and the Chinese Culture ".
